This page has two parts. Part A, Terms of Service, sets the rules for using our website. Part B, Privacy Policy, explains how we handle information. Together they form the agreement between you and Building Block Legal, PLLC ("Building Block Legal, PLLC," "we," "us," or "our") for your use of the website at https://www.buildingblocklegal.com/ (the "Site").
By using the Site, you agree to both parts. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Site after we post changes means you accept them.
Terms of Service
1. Who May Use the Site.
The Site is meant for users who are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, please use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us at Hello@BuildingBlockLegal.com with the subject line “COPPA” and we will delete it. This provision reflects the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506, which limits the collection of personal information from children under 13.
2. What the Site is.
The Site gives general information about Building Block Legal, PLLC and its products, services, and mission. The content is for general information only and is not professional advice. Please do not rely on it as a substitute for advice suited to your situation.
3. Your Use of the Site.
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a way that respects the rights of others. In particular, you agree not to:
3.1 Use the Site in any way that breaks the law.
3.2 Try to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems.
3.3 Introduce viruses or other harmful code.
3.4 Use automated tools to scrape or copy Site content without our written permission.
4. Our Content and Intellectual Property.
The content on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, and images, belongs to Building Block Legal, PLLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use, including copying, distributing, or creating derivative works, needs our prior written consent. "Building Block Legal, PLLC" and our related logos are our trademarks, and nothing here grants you a license to use them.
5. Third Party Links.
The Site may link to websites run by others. We offer these links for convenience only. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices. Visiting a linked site is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties.
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Building Block Legal, PLLC makes no warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that the Site will always be available, secure, or error-free.
7. Limitation of Liability.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Building Block Legal, PLLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. If liability is found despite this limit, our total liability for all claims relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00). Some states do not allow certain limits on liability, so in those states these limits apply only as far as the law allows.
8. Indemnification.
You agree to cover Building Block Legal, PLLC's reasonable losses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these Terms. We will let you know promptly of any such claim and will cooperate with you in the defense.
9. Governing Law and Disputes.
9.1 This page is governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
9.2 Written Flag and Cure Period. If you believe we have failed to meet our obligations under this Agreement, you agree to deliver a written notice describing the issue in reasonable detail. We will have fifteen (15) calendar days from receipt of that notice to cure the issue.
9.3 Good Faith Negotiation. If the issue is not cured within the period described in Section 9.2, Written Flag and Cure Period, we will engage in good faith negotiations for fifteen (15) calendar days, starting the day after the cure period expires. Each Party will designate a representative with authority to resolve the dispute.
9.4 Mediation. If the dispute is not resolved through negotiation under Section 9.3, Good Faith Negotiation, the Parties will submit the dispute to mediation administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its then-current mediation procedures. Building Block Legal, PLLC will select a neutral third-party mediator. Mediation will conclude within thirty (30) calendar days after the mediator is selected, unless the Parties agree in writing to extend. Each Party will bear its own costs and share the mediator's fees equally.
9.5 Arbitration. If the dispute is not resolved through negotiation under Section 9.3, Good Faith Negotiation, either Party may submit the dispute to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its then-current Commercial Arbitration Rules. The arbitration panel will consist of three arbitrators: each Party will select one arbitrator, and those two arbitrators will mutually select a third. The arbitration will take place in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, County of Allegheny. The arbitrators will render a decision within thirty (30) calendar days after the panel is fully constituted. The arbitrators' decision will be final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. Each Party will bear the cost of its own arbitrator and share the cost of the third arbitrator equally. YOU AGREE TO WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.
10. General Provisions.
10.1 Entire Agreement. This page is the entire agreement between you and Building Block Legal, PLLC about your use of the Site.
10.2 Amendments. We may amend this page from time to time without notice.
10.3 Assignment. We may assign our rights under this page. You may not assign yours without our written consent.
10.4 Severability. If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
10.5 No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of this Agreement is not a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We provide this notice because California and other state privacy laws require businesses to tell users, in plain language, what personal information they collect and why.
1. Scope.
This Policy applies to information we collect through the Site. It does not apply to information collected offline or through other channels, or to third-party sites we link to.
2. What We Collect.
We collect two kinds of information:
2.1 Information you give us. If you contact us or fill out a form, we collect what you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.
2.2 Information we collect automatically. When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect basic technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect this through cookies and similar tools. Under California law, we note that we do not allow third parties to collect information about your online activity across other websites. The Site gives general information about Building Block Legal, PLLC and its products, services, and mission. The content is for general information only and is not professional advice. Please do not rely on it as a substitute for advice suited to your situation.
Sensitive information: The Site is not designed to collect sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, financial account numbers, health data, or precise location). Please do not send us this information through the Site.
3. Use of Information.
We use the information to respond to your questions, operate and improve the Site, keep the Site secure, and meet our legal obligations. We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes, then delete or de-identify it. State privacy laws expect us to limit both our use and our retention of personal information to what these stated purposes reasonably require.
4. Sharing Information.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited situations: with service providers who help us run the Site (such as hosting or analytics providers) under confidentiality obligations; when the law requires it or to protect our legal rights; and in connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of assets.
5. Your Privacy Choices.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to:
5.1 Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
5.2 Correct information that is wrong.
5.3 Delete your personal information.
5.4 Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
These rights come from the California Consumer Privacy Act (Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1798.100 and following) and similar laws in other states. To make a request, contact us at Hello@BuildingBlockLegal.com with the subject line “Privacy Choices”. We will not deny you service or treat you differently for exercising these rights, and we will respond within the time the law allows (generally 45 days under California law).
Sale, sharing, and opt-out signals: We do not sell or share your personal information for targeted advertising, so we do not currently offer a "Do Not Sell or Share" link or process Global Privacy Control signals. If this changes, several state laws will require us to honor those browser signals and add an opt-out link, and we will update this Policy accordingly.
6. Children’s Privacy.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. See Terms of Service, Section 1, Who May Use the Site, for how to reach us if you believe we have information from a child under 13.
7. Data Security.
We use reasonable measures designed to protect the information we collect. No method of storing or sending data over the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy.
If we make material changes to how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review it from time to time.
